My Journey
Growing Up
in Haiti
My journey began in the vibrant city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where I was raised by a family of Artists, Entrepreneurs, and Community Builders.
From a young age, I was deeply immersed in the world of small businesses and the creative economy, spending my time after school and during holidays assisting in my grandmother's flower shop, organizing inventory in my mother's children's shoe store, and supporting my grandfather in his art gallery. These experiences fueled my passion for transforming intangible ideas into tangible ventures.
My family's unwavering commitment to our community deeply influenced me, instilling in me a vision of transformative change powered by collaboration and innovation. As I grew older, I carried these values with me, propelling me to explore new horizons.
Connecting
with Africa
After studying International Business at Babson College, I ventured into the heart of Africa’s innovation landscape, where I witnessed the profound impact of technology on uplifting marginalized communities.
Working within innovation hubs, I collaborated with governments and private sector organizations to design sustainable programs that nurtured burgeoning entrepreneurship ecosystems.
Throughout my time in Africa, I grew to understand the importance of creating an enabling environment for startups and small businesses to thrive, as well as the significant role that media, art and culture play as tools for economic development.
Learning
from Silicon Valley
Eager to bring my insights and experiences back home, and explore the possibility of building a bridge between Africa, the Caribbean, and Silicon Valley, I enrolled in a program at Draper University in San Mateo California. This experience offered me the invaluable opportunity to learn firsthand from Silicon Valley's finest, including billionaire investors Tim and Bill Draper. Immersed in an environment designed to nurture innovative thinking, I gained invaluable insights into the world of venture capital and technology startups.
Drawing from my previous work in Africa, I contextualized these learnings to design and test tech-enabled business solutions that would benefit emerging markets. Shortly after, I was invited to participate in Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program as a Google X sponsored fellow, where 100 of the most promising technology influencers from across the globe spent a few months on NASA’s campus, living, working, building and collaborating on tech-driven solutions to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
After spending two years learning from prominent leaders and innovators in Silicon Valley, I was recruited by RocketSpace, a San Francisco-based innovation consultancy. In my role as the Director of Industry Accelerators, I orchestrated corporate innovation programs designed to guide Fortune 500 companies for the waves of technological disruption. Today, I continue my mission at META, where I lead a team dedicated to developing scalable platform solutions for the Caribbean region.
Building
for the world
Connecting my experiences in Africa with the cutting-edge insights from Silicon Valley, I continue to build for the world, with a special focus on address challenges in Emerging Markets and underserved communities.
My platform, #SHE_BUILDS Global Initiative, is one of many ways I ensure my community is included in the next wave of technological disruption—not just as consumers but as producers. Initially founded to accelerate progress in Haiti, #SHE_BUILDS now spans over 20 cities across four continents. By equipping women entrepreneurs, innovators, and change-makers with the tools to scale their impact, #SHE_BUILDS leverages technology to connect and invest in promising women builders worldwide.
In addition to empowering entrepreneurs, I am passionate about changing the global narrative surrounding emerging markets. This passion led me to create WOCO Media Ventures, a platform dedicated to storytelling and media production. WOCO Media Ventures aims to shift the perception of emerging markets from being eternally poor and corrupt to being seen as hubs of innovation, resilience, and opportunity. By highlighting success stories and showcasing the vibrant potential within these communities, WOCO Media Ventures contributes to building solutions for these markets while changing the conversation about their future.
My journey continues, with unwavering commitment to learning, building, and creating opportunities for others to tap into their potential and realize their dreams.
